Naperville, IL (September 5, 2013) – Instec, a leading provider of P&C insurance platforms, today announced benchmark performance and scalability testing results of its Quicksolver® policy administration platform on Microsoft’s SQL Server 2012, Windows Server 2012, and Windows 8 clients. The benchmark tests took place in Microsoft’s Platform Adoption Center in Redmond, WA, and were designed to simulate real-world conditions using a mix of activities typical of a tier-one insurance carrier.
Test results have been fully documented in a downloadable report that can be found at www.instec-corp.com. The report provides the results of the tests, in addition to details about the test environment and methodology used. The activities tested included data entry, rating, and working with forms and worksheets.
The results confirm the upward and outward scalability and performance of Quicksolver on SQL Server and Windows Server. The tests also validated Quicksolver’s ability to scale out from 1 to 8 virtual machines, and scale up from 2 to 24 cores, with memory configured from 2 GB to 32 GB. Future plans consist of continued Instec and Microsoft joint testing work, including long-running tests of seven or more days, and performance and scalability tests of the next version, Quicksolver 3.10.
“We’ve seen tremendous interest from carriers with core system modernization strategies that include deploying Microsoft’s SQL Server 2012, Windows Server 2012, and Windows 8 clients to improve costs, reduce time-to-market for new products, and minimize the overall risk to their business operations,” said Kevin Mason, vice president of Product Development and Maintenance. “These benchmark performance results are proof positive that Instec’s policy administration platform, Quicksolver, can meet these high performance standards and business deliverables.”
“Instec is a strategic partner in insurance and has rapidly and successfully embraced our newest Microsoft products and technologies for its policy administration platform, Quicksolver,” said Tony Jacob, managing director for Worldwide Insurance, Microsoft. “The results of the performance testing validate Instec’s ability to offer commercial P&C carriers and MGAs a highly scalable solution that fully takes advantage of both the economics and the performance of the Microsoft platform.”
